⬅️ exported from the EU to the UK;
➡️ imported into the EU from the UK.
Importing companies will no longer be able to postpone the preparation of import declarations for their goods. When using the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) to exempt goods from customs control, check that the goods being transported have import declarations before boarding the ferry itself.
From the first day of the new year, at all border crossings in the UK, measures will be tightened and controls on imports and exports of goods will be strict. The passage of the port authorities will not be possible unless the transported goods are exempted from customs control.
In cases of using the GVMS (Goods Vehicle Movement Service) service after January 1, you will need to have a GVMS registration. If you do not have a registration, respectively you will not have the opportunity to prepare the declarations, which will lead to the impossibility to board a ferry.
The list of border crossings using the GVMS service are:
? Aberdeen (SeaCargo movements only)
? Belfast
? Dover
? Eurotunnel
? Felixstowe (DFDS movements only)
? Fishguard
? Harwich (Stena movements only)
? Heysham (Stena, Seatrucks movements only)
? Holyhead

? Purfleet
? Sheerness (DFDS movements only)
? Teesport (P&O movements only)
? Il Tilbury (P&O movements only)

When passing through one of the ports, you will need to present a valid GMR barcode upon check-in. The GMR can be set up by the driver as well as the transport company manager, customs agent or freight forwarder. You only need to create one GMR for each vehicle.
Drivers moving goods through the English Channel Tunnel, Dover Harbor or Holyhead may have to take their goods for customs clearance at a land border crossing point (IBF) before leaving or when arriving in the UK. Drivers should check their Goods Movement (GMR) to see if they need to be checked.
