Freight drivers will be able to check in with their regular operator in the usual way, but will be able to sail with the earliest vessel, regardless of the operator. This will provide more flexibility, sailing every 37 minutes. reducing waiting time at the port and saving significant time. While the agreement means that capacity is shared, all commercial activities remain entirely under the control of each operator. The main points of the agreement are:
✔ Applies only to lorries with driver (containers / trailers are operated only by the given ferry operator)
✔ Does not apply to the transport of dangerous goods, power supply on board or oversized vehicles.
✔ Applies to Dover <> Calais voyages only.
✔ Dover <> Dunkir services continue to be managed solely by DFDS.
✔ DFDS customers will continue to have the option of priority bar and extended check-in when leaving Dunkirk.
✔ Truck drivers who register with DFDS will continue to benefit from free food and all services.
